We would like to officially welcome three new teachers to our staff at Academy of Sound!
Hannah Best: Hannah is a high school Junior here in Oregon, and
has been a student as the Academy since we opened in 2003. Hannah has
studied piano and guitar with various teachers at AOS. In February, we
decided it was time for the next step in Hannah's musical career, and
she began teaching just two students a week. Hannah continued teaching
over the summer, working with two more students, and is now teaching a
full Wednesday schedule with five students. Hannah spent some time in
Germany this past year, and got to observe what piano lessons are like
in that culture.
Allison Weber: Allison is a sophomore at Oregon High School, and
another longtime student at the Academy. Allison has been very involved
with almost every type of lesson we offer, and is currently studying
piano with Erin Kaether, voice with Jennifer Sams, and drama with Lori
Gothard. Allison plans to continue her musical studies in college, and
go on to have a career in the performing arts. Next week, Allison will
finish her training at AOS and begin teaching a handful of beginner
piano students on Mondays. Allison will be busy with musical
rehearsals, as she has a dual-role in the upcoming production at OHS,
"Chicago."
Kristie Halverson: Kristie is new to the Oregon area, recently
moving from Viroqua, WI where she taught choir, private voice lessons,
and private piano lessons at the high school and middle school levels.
Kristie holds a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from the
University of Missouri - Kansas City, and a Bachelor of Arts in Music
& English from Luther College, Decorah, Iowa. Kristie joins us as a
substitute piano and voice teacher, and may move into a part time
position as the demand for these lessons increases.
In addition to openings with Allison, there are still a few openings
available with teachers John Wiedenbeck (bass guitar), and Jim Kryshak
(voice), and also two openings remaining with Eric Schooff (piano &
guitar).
